Life will be the death of me…and you too is the sixth bestselling book by Chelsea Handler.
Chelsea Handler is widely known as the no holds barred comedy style and her talk show Chelsea Lately. She has also had multiple Netflix shows and specials. Not to mention 5 other bestselling Books. Now, Chelsea takes us through a year of self-discovery and development with the blunt honesty we expect from her. Chelsea takes her brutal honesty to a whole new level and is completely raw and emotional. She openly explores the death of her brother and discovers profound impact it had on her life. She talks about everything from her lack of empathy to forcing her dogs to bed on a leash so they could cuddle.
Not (just) a collection of funny stories
There is no shortage of the kinds of funny stories Chelsea is known for (for example, having to call her personal assistant to help her turn the TV on). The book tells how trying to take control of the anger at the 2016 election lead to her personal growth. “”I’m fucking angry. I just don’t understand how this man could get elected.” Dan told me to just sit with that feeling and not talk. What i grew to learn was that Dan didn’t want me to talk around my anger and pretend it was all about Donald Trump. What Donald Trump represented to me were things being out of control, and when things became unhinged, I became angry because that was my default zone.”
Mixed in with talking about her attraction to Robert Muller and stories about her dogs, Chelsea has many meaningful revelations. “”Anger,” I sobbed. “I’m so angry, and I’m so tired.” “I bet,” he said. “I bet you are.” “I need to tell you about the day my brother died and what happened to my family.” Chelsea explores how the death of her brother caused her childhood to stop and her adulthood to begin and how that has impacted her entire adult life. Death, loss, and grief have played large roles in Chelsea’s life and she’s invited the entire world to look at her pain as if saying “Here’s my entire life on display. Take my experiences and learn from them.”
